This segment from the 2013 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Madison Martin, a seventh grade student at Southside Junior High School in Denham Springs. Martin has been battling type one diabetes and celiac disease since she was fifteen months old. Despite missing a considerable amount of school due to her physical ailments, Martin is an excellent student and a member of the gifted art and music program. She is also an advocate and fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association and a volunteer at the Livingston Parish Animal Shelter.
