This segment from the May 31, 2019, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Natasha Williams’ report on the ongoing recovery effort from the EF-3 tornado that hit Ruston on April 25, 2019, and killed two people. She interviews Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker, who discusses: the immediate effort to restore electricity and make the roads passable; the ongoing debris removal process; the 500 structures damaged or destroyed in the storm; the plans for reforestation to replace damaged trees; and his pride at the community, including students from Louisiana Tech and Grambling, coming together to help neighbors clear debris and recover from the storm.
