Description
This segment from the October 19, 2018, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau’s report on the closure of the Sunshine Bridge near Donaldsonville. Moreau reports that a barge traveling down the Mississippi River with a crane crashed into the bridge on October 12th. He interviews Dr. Shawn Wilson, the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), who discusses: his expectation that the bridge will be closed for months instead of days; the next steps for the repairs; and their decision not to open the bridge until permanent repairs can be made.
