Description
This segment from the July 13, 2018, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau’s report on Medicaid expansion in Louisiana two years after it was enacted by the Edwards Administration. He interviews Don Gregory, the former state Medicaid director and a health care consultant with the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR), who discusses: the benefits of changing from a safety net system to an insurance system; the overall cost of the Medicaid program; and the importance of educating the public on when to visit an urgent care clinic versus the emergency room. This report also includes an interview with Brenda Harris, a Medicaid recipient, on how the expansion has changed her health and quality of life.
