This segment from the September 1, 2017, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Dorothy Kendrick’s interview with Walter Delphin, a Vietnam veteran from Shreveport and the author of “Boots in the Grass.” He discusses: his combat experiences in Vietnam; the racism he encountered in the military; being hit in the face with a container of urine at the airport when he returned home from the war; and the importance of veterans writing about their experiences in order to overcome the scars of war.
