Description
This segment from the September 1, 2017, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau’s report on the role of the Cajun Navy in rescuing the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. He interviews Rob Gaudet, a Cajun Navy member, who discusses: the Cajun Navy’s use of social media and technology in coordinating the rescue efforts in Texas; the formation of the Cajun Navy during the August 2016 floods in south Louisiana; and their efforts to help flood victims rebuild from the 2016 floods. This report also includes footage of Cajun Navy member Todd Terrell coordinating Hurricane Harvey relief efforts at the Costco in Baton Rouge prior to a group of volunteers leaving for Texas. Lastly, Moreau conducts an in-studio interview with Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser on the work of the Cajun Navy.
