These stories include: Secretary Don Pierson of the Department of Economic Development testifying before the House Subcommittee on Business Development about his department’s proposed budget; State Representative Mark Abraham questioning Pierson; Secretary James LeBlanc of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections testifying before a House committee on a possible prisoner release schedule that will help the department save money; State Representative Walt Leger III of the House Education Committee commenting on State Representative Chris Broadwater’s bill requiring future freshmen and sophomore TOPS recipients to pay a percentage of their tuition; State Representative Julie Stokes testifying before the House Education Committee on her bill requiring students who lose TOPS to pay back their scholarship on a sliding scale; and James Caillier, the executive director of TOPS, testifying on the importance of the program.
