Description

This segment from the December 5, 2014, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on the early voting results and the expectations for voter turnout in the December 6th statewide run-off elections. Her report touches on the potential impact of the Southern University football team playing in the SWAC Championship Game in Houston on the same day on voter turnout. She interviews Secretary of State Tom Schedler and Dr. Albert Samuels, a political science professor at Southern University. Sanford then conducts an in-studio interview with Jeremy Alford of LaPolitics and Stephanie Grace of the Advocate newspaper. They discuss: the expectations for voter turnout; the contentious United States Senate race between United States Senator Mary Landrieu and Congressman Bill Cassidy; and the expectations for Republican victories in the elections for the 5th and 6th Congressional Districts.
