Description

This segment from the June 21, 2013, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on the safety issues at the chemical plants in south Louisiana in the wake of three explosions in less than one week. Sanford reports on the three explosions: the June 13th explosion at the Williams Olefins Plant in Geismar that killed two and injured 70; the June 14th explosion at the CF Industries Plant in Donaldsonville that killed one worker; and the June 18th eruption at a gas line owned by Florida Gas in Washington Parish. Following the report, she conducts an in-studio interview with Dan Borne of the Louisiana Chemical Association and Anne Rolfes of the Louisiana Bucket Brigade. They discuss their differing views on plant safety.
