This segment from the May 31, 2013, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s profile of Lew Carter, a 90-year-old radio host at WRKF-FM in Baton Rouge. Carter discusses his 63-year career in broadcasting and his collection of over 50,000 albums, which is now housed by the Pointe Coupee Historical Society. Whinham also visits the Lew Carter Listening Room at the Julien Poydras Museum and Art Center in New Roads, Louisiana. He interviews Angelique Bergeron, the executive director of the Pointe Coupee Historical Society, and Michael Phelps, the caretaker of the Lew Carter Room.
