This segment from the August 26, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Virnado Woods’ visit to Baton Rouge Hops, a hip hop festival held at the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge. He interviews Roxi Victorian, the artistic director of Baton Rouge Hops, who discusses hip hop culture, teaching a hip hop dance class at Episcopal High School, hip hop poetry, graffiti art, West African dance, contemporary hip hop dancing, and break dancing. Woods also interviews: Rene Chatelain, the executive director of the Manship Theater and Shaw Center; Donney Rose, a teaching artist and poet; and DJ Supa Mike, a hip hop DJ.
