Description
This segment from the July 29, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Allegra Nevils Yancey’s report on the immunizations required for Louisiana’s school children. Yancey interviews Dr. Marilyn Reynaud, the Region 2 Medical Director for the Department of Health and Hospitals, who discusses the requirement for parents to maintain an up-to-date immunization record for their children, the Louisiana Immunization Network for Kids Statewide (LINKS) registry of vaccination records, and the safety of vaccines. She also interviews Dr. Stewart Gordon, the president of the Louisiana chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, who discusses the effectiveness of immunizations in eliminating diseases.
