This segment from the July 15, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s report on the inaugural class of “Escadrille Louisiane,” a partnership between the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL), the French government, and Centenary College in Shreveport. Whinham reports that ten recent college graduates from Louisiana will travel to France to teach English to French students and attend classes at a local university. Upon their return to Louisiana, they will work as French teachers for three years. Whinham interviews: Dr. William Arceneaux, the president of CODOFIL; Dr. Dominic Salinas, the Director of the Department of Education at Centenary; Dr. David Rowe, the president of Centenary College; and program participants Nicole Horne, Virginia-Kate Mather, and Cary Hebert.
