She interviews: Barry Erwin, the president of the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL), on the BESE Board’s struggle between selecting an establishment candidate or a reform-minded candidate; Stephen Waguespack, the Governor’s Executive Counsel, on the need for a reform-minded candidate, the Jindal Administration’s support of White, and the phone calls made by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan in support of White; BESE Board Member James Garvey on White’s experience; John White on his experience as a teacher; and Steve Monaghan, the president of the Louisiana Federation of Teachers, on his view of Secretary Duncan’s phone calls as interference.
