This segment from the April 29, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Jeremy Alford’s report on the lack of attendance at a public meeting hosted by the River Parishes Workforce Investment Board (RPWIB). The RPWIB was given a $1.3 million grant by BP to provide career training for workers in St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist Parishes, who were impacted by the BP Oil Spill. This report includes comments by Jamie Coleman and Annie Harmon of RPWIB, St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom, and St. Charles Parish President V.J. St. Pierre. Alford also interviews Casey LeBlanc of Cajun Crab Connections in Des Allemands on his business slow-down due to the oil spill and his lack of interest in finding a new career.
