This segment from the February 25, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Jeremy Alford’s visit to the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) office in New Orleans to assess the BP Oil Spill claims process. He interviews Kim Chauvin of the Mariah Jade Shrimp Company in Chauvin about the impact of the oil spill on her company and her difficulty in navigating the claims process because of the lack of a structure for specialized seafood claims. Alford also talks to Mark Matthews of Superior Bait and Tackle in Baton Rouge, who has recovered 80% of his losses, about the importance of remaining aggressive in dealing with the GCCF.
