This segment from the May 21, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Allegra Nevils Yancey’s preview of “Just Dance” at the Shaw Center in Baton Rouge, a collaboration between choreographer Debbie Allen and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Yancey interviews Debbie Allen, who discusses the universal language of dance, spending her childhood summers in Port Allen, working with Derek Gordon, highlighting the best of her choreography in “Just Dance,” and the joy of teaching. Yancey also talks to Derek Gordon of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, who discusses his collaboration with Debbie Allen and the young dancers participating in the show.
