These stories include: State Representative Wayne Waddell testifying on his bills creating more transparency for the Department of Economic Development’s Rapid Response Fund and Mega-Project Development Fund; State Representative Damon Baldone and Leverne Perry of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders testifying on Baldone’s bill banning shill bidders from artificially increasing bids at auctions; State Representative Juan LaFonta questioning State Representative Erich Ponti on his bill creating a residential plumbing license; State Representatives Juan LaFonta and Chris Roy questioning State Representative Kirk Talbot and Secretary Alan Levine of the Department of Health and Hospitals on Talbot’s bill allowing businesses and individuals to opt out of the federal health care system without facing any fines or penalties; State Representative Pat Smith testifying on her bill mandating that the State Superintendent of Education meet the same job qualifications as a local school superintendent; State Senator Edwin Murray questioning State Senator Nick Gautreaux on his bill prohibiting a convicted felon from another state from running for public office in Louisiana; State Representative John Bel Edwards questioning State Representative Franklin Foil on his bill creating a pilot program that allows children with disabilities to be given a scholarship to transfer from a public school to a private or parochial school that can meet their needs; and an update on State Representative John LaBruzzo’s bill requiring drug testing for adult welfare recipients.
