Description
This segment from the December 4, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Donna LaFleur’s report on the inmate hospice care program at Angola, the Louisiana State Penitentiary. She talks to Melody Spragg Eschete, the hospice coordinator at Angola, about the origins of the program. LaFleur also interviews four of the program’s inmate volunteers, Gary Tyler, Harun Sharif-El, Steven Garner, and Diego Zapata. They discuss their work in providing hospice care to their fellow inmates and their creation of quilts as a fundraiser for the program.
