Description
This segment from the September 18, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s profile of Lil Daddy, a popular comic strip for children that has run in the Monroe News-Star for 15 years. Whinham interviews Reggie McLeroy, the creator of Lil Daddy, the discipline coordinator for the Ruston Public Schools, and an acclaimed artist, who discusses the origins of Lil Daddy and his desire to create a character providing positive messages to children. Whinham also talks to Ken Stickney, the managing editor for the Monroe News Star, about the popularity of the comic strip, and Ladavion White, a gospel rapper, about the songs he has written for the character.
