Description
This segment from the September 11, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s report on the new economic development opportunities in Northeast Louisiana, due, in part, to the state’s use of the Mega-Project Development Fund. In Monroe, Whinham talks to economic development officer Dwight D. Vines about all of the new opportunities available in the city. He then tours the future site of a manufacturing plant for green cars by V Vehicle Company with businessman James Davison. Whinham also talks to Monroe Mayor James Mayo about the city’s devastating loss of a State Farm Office in 2004 and the upcoming expansion of the Gardner-Denver Manufacturing Plant. Whinham then travels to Delhi where he talks to sweet potato farmer Lev Dawson and Mayor J. Lynn Lewis about the plans for Con Agra Foods to build a sweet potato processing plant in the town.
