Description
This segment from the May 29, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s visit to the Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site in St. Martinville. Whinham tours the two main structures at the park, a reproduction of an Acadian farmstead and a Creole Plantation built in 1815 called Maison Olivier. He also talks to greeter Debbie Savoy, curator Suzanne Laviolette, and interpretive rangers Karl Blanchard and Mary Guirard about how the Acadians and Creoles of the Bayou Teche area lived in the nineteenth century. This story is a part of the “Louisiana’s Natural Treasures: State Parks” series. Host: Shauna Sanford
