This segment from the April 17, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s report on the partnership between the Marucci Bat Company in Baton Rouge and Albin Athletics in Livingston for the “Cat 5,” an aluminum baseball bat that does not vibrate and sting the hitter after they swing. Whinham tours both companies and talks to Jack Marruci, Joe Lawrence, and Kurt Ainsworth of the Marruci Bat Company and Joel Albin of Albin Athletics about Albin’s development of the technology to make non-vibrating aluminum bats and the partnership between the two companies.
