Description
This segment from the April 3, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a video produced by the Cinematic Arts Workshop at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) on the creation of the “BeauSoleil” solar home by the ULL Solar Decathlon Team, a group of students and faculty at the School of Architecture and Design. The “BeauSoleil” home was designed in the regional style of Louisiana homes, but is completely self-sustaining through the use of solar energy. The ULL team was one of twenty teams chosen to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon, an international competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, which will allow them to build the “BeauSoleil” home on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. as a part of the competition’s “Solar Village.” Hosts: Charlie Whinham and Shauna Sanford
