Description
This segment from the February 13, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a report on the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), a public high school dedicated to the visual and performing arts open to all students in Louisiana. An introductory video includes interviews with students, teachers, alumni, and supporters of the school, including Branford Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, and Harry Connick, Jr. Next, school president Kyle Wedberg and student Ariel Jackson join Charlie Whinham and Shauna Sanford for an in-studio interview. Wedberg discusses the history of the school and the upcoming summer sessions for middle and high school students. Jackson talks about her experience at NOCCA and shares a few pieces of her artwork.
