Description
This segment from the “Katrina and Rita: A Year of Recovery” special from August 25, 2006, features Charlie Whinham’s visit to Cameron Parish almost one year after Hurricane Rita. Whinham talks to Cameron Parish Sheriff Theos Duhon about the progress of the clean-up effort and the desire of all of the residents to return home. He also speaks with resident De De Sanders about her return home, her excitement that the schools will be opening in the fall, and the parish’s rebuilding effort. Whinham also visits other sites in the parish, including the Hurricane Café, the Cameron Parish Library Bookmobile, and the Cameron Parish Courthouse, the current site for mail pick-up.
