Description
This segment from the “Katrina and Rita: A Year of Recovery” special from August 25, 2006, features Robyn Ekings checking in with veterinarian Mark Cousins one year after Hurricane Katrina. Ekings first met with Cousins one week after the storm as he surveyed the damage to his home in the Oak Park Ridge subdivision in Old Metairie. Ekings meets with Cousins at his veterinary office in New Orleans and talks to him about his loss of a large percentage of his client base, his frustration with the lack of help from the Small Business Administration, and his concerns over the lack of leadership in New Orleans. Ekings also tours Cousins’ gutted home in Metairie and talks to him about his plans to return home.
