This segment from the June 18, 1993, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features the first part of Arcie Chapa’s report on the use of pesticides in Louisiana farming. Chapa reports that pesticides were blamed for the deaths of the 750,000 fish killed in Louisiana in the summer of 1991. She interviews: Sister Helen Vinton, former pesticide commissioner; Agriculture Commissioner Bob Odom; and Jackie Judice, a sugar cane farmer in New Iberia who is trying to use less pesticides.
