This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from March 27, 1992, features Robert Collins and Arcie Chapa previewing the 1992 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Chapa first reports on the concerns about the $1 billion state budget deficit. She interviews: Mark Drennen, the president of the Public Affairs Research Council (PAR); Governor Edwin Edwards; and State Representative Kip Holden. Collins then leads an in-studio panel discussion with three journalists: Debra Holden of WRKF in Baton Rouge; John Hill of the Shreveport Times and Monroe News-Star; and Richard Baudouin of The Times of Acadiana. They discuss: the biggest battles of the upcoming session, including the state budget, reapportionment, the lottery proceeds, and agency shop; the new state legislators; health insurance; day care regulation; taxes; and the proposed constitutional convention.
