Description

This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from January 17, 1992, features Robert Collins and Jeff Duhe reporting on the start of Governor Edwin Edwards’ historic fourth term in office. Duhe first reports on a party for new state legislators that was held the night before the inauguration. He interviews: Senate President Sammy Nunez; State Representative Jim McCleary; State Representative Sean Reilly; Commissioner of Administration Raymond Laborde; State Representative Francis Thompson; United States Senator J. Bennett Johnston; United States Senator John Breaux; and Governor Edwin Edwards. Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Commissioner of Administration Raymond Laborde and Mark Drennen, the president of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR). They discuss: Laborde’s new role; the state budget and possible cuts; the timeline for a constitutional convention on taxes; the impact of the national economy on Louisiana; and the Governor’s appointments to his cabinet.
