This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from April 12, 1991, features Robert Collins, Karen Nachman, and Jeff Duhe reporting on the first and second special sessions of the Louisiana Legislature. Collins first reports on the week’s headlines. These stories include: Governor Buddy Roemer discussing the closure of England Air Force Base in Alexandria; an interview with State Representative Ted Haik on his oil spill response bill; and an interview with United States Senator John Breaux on the growing use of satellite technology in the classroom. Next, Nachman reports on the passage of the renewal of the three-cent sales tax at the first special session. Her report includes comments by: State Representative Sherman Copelin; State Representative John Alario; State Representative Raymond Laborde; State Representative Art Sour; Commissioner of Administration Dennis Stine; State Representative Clyde Kimball; and Governor Roemer.
