This segment from the January 8, 1988, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Roger Sockman’s report on the meeting of the Revenue Estimating Conference. He reports that the REC adopted $16 dollars a barrel as the oil price used to project state revenue. Sockman’s report also includes an interview with Governor-Elect Buddy Roemer on his preference for budget cuts over taxes to deal with the state budget deficit, as well as highlights of a press conference with Governor-Elect Roemer announcing his recommendations for more budget cuts.
