This segment from the January 8, 1988, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Roger Sockman’s report on the meeting of the Revenue Estimating Conference. He reports that the REC adopted $16 dollars a barrel as the oil price used to project state revenue. It includes comments by: Bill Black, state fiscal analyst; Ralph Perlman, executive budget officer; Senate President Sammy Nunez; and Commissioner of Administration Brian Kendrick. Sockman’s report also includes an interview with Governor-Elect Buddy Roemer on his preference for budget cuts over taxes to deal with the state budget deficit, as well as highlights of a press conference with Governor-Elect Roemer announcing his recommendations for more budget cuts.
