This segment from the October 25, 1985, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Ken Johnson’s report on the state budget deficit. His report touches on: the Legislative Fiscal Office announcing that the state ended the 1984-1985 fiscal year with a $23.6 million budget deficit; the projections for a $150 million deficit for 1985-1986 and a $250 million deficit for 1986-1987; and the United States House of Representatives approving a settlement for the 8g offshore oil and gas royalties that could give Louisiana $670 million to $870 million.
