His interviewees include: Dr. Dek Terrell of the LSU Department of Economics; Dr. Anna Osland of the Blanco Public Policy Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Dr. Stephen Barnes, the executive director of the Blanco Public Policy Center; Melinda Deslatte of the Associated Press; Greg Hilburn of the USA Today Network; Robert Travis Scott of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR) and State Treasurer John Schroder. The first segment focuses on the presidential election. The panelists are Dr. Joshua Stockley, a political science professor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Dr. Ron Faucheux, a pollster and political analyst with the Clarus Research Group. They discuss: election polling; the key differences in Louisiana under President-Elect Joe Biden’s administration; Louisiana remaining a red state; the popularity of early voting; how the Republican Party can broaden its base; and working class voters. The second segment focuses on state elections. The panelists are: Jeremy Alford, political reporter and publisher of LaPolitics; Liz Mangham, lobbyist and founding partner of Southern Strategy Group; and Dr. Stockley. They discuss: Senator Bill Cassidy winning re-election; Foster Campbell, a Democrat, winning re-election to the Public Service Commission; redistricting in 2021; local races of interest; voter turnout; whether the Louisiana Republican Party has a spokesman; Supreme Court races; Congressman Cedric Richmond’s appointment in the Biden Administration; and the upcoming election to replace Richmond in Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District. The third segment focuses on the constitutional amendments. Panelist Robert Travis Scott of PAR discusses the fate of the seven constitutional amendments on the November 3rd ballot. The fourth segment focuses on voters approving sports betting in the majority of Louisiana’s parishes. Panelist Dr. Stephen Barnes of the Blanco Public Policy Institute discusses the next steps for instituting sports betting and the potential financial impact to the state.
