Description
A program marking the dedication of WLPB-TV in Baton Rouge, the flagship station of the LPB network, in September of 1975. It includes: footage of Governor Edwin Edwards flipping the switch to sign on WLPB; a brief history of the Louisiana Educational Television Authority (LETA), the parent agency of LPB; a preview of the programming available for children and adults; and the proposed plans of expansion for the statewide network. This program also includes live coverage of the LETA dedication in the House of Representatives at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge, including speeches by: LETA Chairman Ed Pendergast; Superintendent of Education Louis Michot; William S. Hart, the president and general manager of WYES in New Orleans; Alfred Brown, Jr., the chairman of the WYES Board of Trustees; Lieutenant Governor Jimmy Fitzmorris; and Beth Fetty, the widow of Max Fetty, who served as the first chairman of LETA.
