Natasha Williams of Louisiana Public Broadcasting moderates a panel discussion on the “Many Faces of Trauma” at a Resiliency Summit hosted by ReCAST Baton Rouge at Baton Rouge Community College on July 30, 2019. The panelists are: Caitlin Levine of the Louisiana Department of Health; Murphy Paul, the chief of the Baton Rouge Police Department; Clarence Nero, an English professor at Baton Rouge Community College; East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome; Lamman Rucker, an actor, activist, and educator; Brian Nugent, the deputy police chief in Avon, Indiana; and Rameil Pitamber, a man arrested by Nugent for an armed robbery and later asked Nugent to become his mentor. The panelists discuss: the traumatic events of 2016 in Baton Rouge; overcoming trauma; increasing the training for adverse childhood experiences; and the factors that influence trauma in Baton Rouge.
