Former United States Senator Mary Landrieu moderates the Kathleen Babineaux Blanco Public Policy Center Legacy Colloquium at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) on September 21, 2018. The panelists and their topics of discussion are: Dr. Kim Hunter Reed, the Commissioner of Higher Education, on Governor Blanco’s legacy on education; Dr. DeAnn Kalich, a professor of sociology at ULL, on suicide prevention; Dr. Shawn Wilson, the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, on Governor Blanco’s legacy on infrastructure; Dr. Christie Maloyed, a professor of political science at ULL, on civic participation; Dr. David Khey, a professor of criminal justice at ULL, on criminal justice reform; and Terri Ricks, the deputy secretary of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, on the work of the Louisiana Department of Social Services following Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita in 2005. Following the panel discussion, former Governor Kathleen Blanco makes a few closing comments about the future of the Public Policy Center.
