A speech by Jay Grymes before the Baton Rouge Rotary Club on January 4, 2017. Grymes is the chief meteorologist at WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge and a former Louisiana State Climatologist. He discusses the major weather events in Louisiana in 2016, including: the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway in January due to the high Mississippi River levels; the February tornadoes in south Louisiana; the March floods in north and southeast Louisiana; the hot summer temperatures; the historic August floods in south Louisiana; and the fall drought conditions.
