Description

Jim Engster moderates a debate at the Baton Rouge Press Club on October 31, 2016, between two of the candidates in the election for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District: East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden (D) and Congressman Cedric Richmond (D), the incumbent. The debate begins with each candidate’s opening statement. Members of the press then ask the candidates questions on the following topics: who they will vote for in the 2016 presidential election; the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP); Hillary Clinton’s decision to not visit Baton Rouge following the historic flooding in south Louisiana; the Hillary Clinton email controversy; their proposed changes to the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare); alternative energy; community policing; gun control; their priorities; and the National Flood Insurance Program. The debate ends with each candidate’s closing statement.
