Description

Beth Courtney and Barry Erwin of the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL) moderate a live debate from the LPB Studios in Baton Rouge on October 30, 2019, between the two run-off candidates for Governor: Governor John Bel Edwards (D) and businessman Eddie Rispone (R). Three journalists, Andre Moreau and Natasha Williams of Louisiana Public Broadcasting and Mark Ballard of The Advocate newspaper, ask the candidates questions in seven topic areas. The candidates also ask each other a question related to the seven topics. The candidates answer questions on the following topics: the role national issues play in Louisiana; governmental experience; constitutional changes; infrastructure; economy and jobs for the future; taxes and fiscal issues; and their core values. The debate ends with each candidate’s closing statement.
