Description

This episode of the “Great American Seafood Cookoff” features highlights from the 2013 competition held at the Louisiana Foodservice Expo in New Orleans. Fifteen chefs from around the country compete to create the best seafood dish using the seafood indigenous to their states. The competitors are: Chef Rizwan Ahmed of Rhode Island; Chef Christopher Albrecht of New Jersey; Chef Scott James of North Carolina; Chef Paul Turano of Massachusetts; Chef Sean Thomas of South Carolina; Chef Justin Wills of Oregon; Chef Kevin Lane of Alaska; Chef Rich Taylor of Texas; Chef Cody Carroll of Louisiana; Chef David Crews of Mississippi; Chef Rob McDaniel of Alabama; Chef John Greening of Florida; Chef Elise Wiggins of Colorado; Chef Eric Stumpf of New Mexico; and Chef Will Preston of Kentucky. This episode also includes interviews with: Ewell Smith of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, emcee; Chef Cory Bahr, emcee; Chef Eric Gabrynowicz of Restaurant North, judge; Katie Ayoub of Flavor and the Menu, judge; Chef Derrick Davenport of Joint Chiefs of Staff, judge; Scott Hocker of Tasting Table, judge; and Izabela Wojcik of the James Beard Foundation, judge. It also includes interviews with the chefs describing their dishes. Chef David Crews of Mississippi is named the winner of the competition and crowned the “King of American Seafood.”
