Description
This segment from the December 10, 1981, episode of the series “Folks” features Sharon Elizabeth Sexton’s report on the stigma and discrimination faced by patients with Hansen’s Disease, which is formerly known as leprosy. Sexton visits the Hansen’s Disease Center in Carville, Louisiana. She interviews Sister Laura Stricker, a member of the Sisters of Charity who has worked at Carville since 1925, and Assistant Surgeon General Dr. John Trautman.
