This episode of the series “Behind the Glory” from October 12, 2023, features Lyn Rollins’ interview with Walter Imahara, a 2023 inductee into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Imahara, a resident of Baton Rouge, was a championship weightlifter at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) and in national and international competitions. He discusses: his time in an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II; his weightlifting career at ULL; and his other weightlifting championships. This episode also includes a profile of Imahara’s career, including interviews with: Warren Perrin, ULL weightlifting from 1966-1969; Joseph Murry, ULL weightlifting from 1964-1968; and Dr. David E. Meltzer, a professor at Arizona State University and co-author of four books with Imahara.
